RED BULL – Break The Bank – RESCHEDULED – MARCH 9

We are teaming up with Red Bull to bring you the First ever – Red Bull – Break The Bank.

Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Tawatinaw Valley Ski Area.

This will be a first ever DUAL Banked Slalom.

Lift tickets are FREE
Bus ride from our store to the area is FREE
There is a $1000. total cash prize purse.

Lib Tech Build a Board.

With the Lib Tech Do It Yourself board builder site now live (see the post on that) – I figured it would be a great time to show you all a little bit of what goesinto building a snowboard.

This past July, myself, Ryan (shop manager) and Andrew (our Lib Tech sales rep) all went to the Mervin head offices in Washington state.  We had a tour in the morning (see other post on that) and after lunch we were lucky enough to be able to build our own boards.

It all starts with Wood. Lib Tech (and Gnu) make their own wood cores. What starts as a hunk of wood is glued / pressed / milled and shaped into the core.

After the last layer of glass - the top sheet is added.

After a secret amount of time - the board is done and pulled out of the press.

The professionals took over for the finishing. Here the board is being cut to shape. While it is easy to follow the edge - Lib and Gnu boards have no edge at the tip and tail so "getting it right? is an art form.

Lib Tech – Do It Yourself

Lib Tech has launched a Do It Yourself (DIY) web site where you can go and make your own custom board.

You can choose the type of rocker / camber – the top sheet graphic – the side wall color – the base graphic – and you can even spell out what ever you want in a multi color die cut base.

So Cool!   Turn around time right now is just over a month – so you can still get it in time for the start of the season.
